While doing my research I found many new things about basketball. I found that the first NBA game was between the New York Knicks and the Toronto Huskies. The score of the first game was not as high as the scores of today's games are. Also, I found that the best team is considered to be the 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls. The greatest player to ever play in the game was Micheal Jordan. He was included in this Chicago team. I found out that the game of basketball was invented in the late 1800's. The inventor of the game was James Naismith. He was a Canadian. "On this day in 1891, the first game of basketball was played at what is now Springfield College." This quote tells what year the first game of basketball was played and where it was played.

There were many important things I found out about basketball. The first thing I found out is who invented basketball. This person was James Naismith. He used a peach basket and a soccer ball to invent the game. Naismith was teaching at Springfield college when he invented the game. Also, I learned many surprising things while researching the game of basketball. The first thing is that when basketball was started a person could not move with the ball or it would be traveling. I think the most surprising thing I learned is that the game was invented just to help with a disagreeable group of males Naismith was teaching. I have a couple of questions that I still want to find the answer to. One question is what is the largest margin of victory in a college basketball game. I am glad that I chose Basketball as my topic because I have learned many new things about the sport I love to play and watch.

While doing my research, I have found answers to some of the questions I ask myself before starting my research. The first thing that I learned is who invented the game of basketball. This person was James Naismith. He started the game by using a peach basket and a soccer ball. Also, there were only 13 rules when the game started. Then, I did more research and found the answer to another question, How has Basketball changed overtime. The game has changed by using a rim, net, and backboard, not a peach basket. Also, there are many more rules for a modern-day basketball game. This is one rule that has changed for playing basketball, ("And originally you couldnt move with the ball or it would be traveling. Eventually people started dropping the ball to be able to move with it and dribbling was invented").

After the research that I have done so far, I have learned a lot more about basketball. I have learned when the game of basketball was invented. I looked up the statistics for Lebron James and found some amazing things. I have found statistics on some teams in the NBA. So, this gave me an idea of who the best team was, which is the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls. The best player in the NBA was Michael Jordan. This quote tells why Michael Jordan is considered the best player to ever play in the NBA, (“There’s Michael Jordan, and then there are the rest of us,” Johnson once said). I have also learned the person who invented basketball and what he used to play the very first game. There were originally 13 rules in basketball but, there are many more now. Also, there have been more teams to start playing. Basketball has changed also because there are now boys and girls basketball teams. I am looking to learn many more things about basketball that I do not already know.

What I want to know about my topic

Some things I want to know about basketball: Where was the first basketball game played? What teams have played in different games over time? What I already know about my topic

There are many things I already know about the topic of basketball. I know the rules that you need to know to play a game. Also, I know that there are many different leagues of basketball. There is college basketball, NBA(National Basketball Association), high school teams, and foreign teams. I know of many teams in the college league and NBA.

The story behind my topic choice

I chose the topic because I am interested in Basketball. The game of Basketball is very popular in the United States and other countries. Basketball is my favorite sport to play or watch. I have played Basketball in middle school. The game of Basketball has very many talented players that make me even more interested in watching it. Basketball is a challenging sport that is fun to learn. When playing Basketball a person has to be able to do several things at once. The things they have to do is watch the person guarding them, dribble the ball, look at teamates, and think of what you are going to do to have a great outcome.
